There are amazing resources these days to keep students engaged at all grade levels & in all subjects with apps available on iPads!  I decided one day while exploring the app store on my phone for “education” related content….that my students NEEDED iPads to use in class!

Let the brainstorming begin!  I posted this thought on my Facebook page and my students started commenting right away with ideas!

I’ve been searching grants, but unfortunately since it is a for-profit higher education organization there just isn’t anything available (that I’ve found so far, I shall keep looking!).

I decided to ask for business sponsorships & donations!  For the business sponsors, I create advertisements for them or use their own business card/material and attach it to the cover of the iPad they helped purchase!  I also include business cards inside the cover, hang advertisements on the wall in my classroom, and post/share their websites.  This advertisement will continue for the life of the device!

My personal donators simply wanted an image (the penguins!) on the device somewhere (I’ve collected penguins since I was very young, you may pick up on the penguin theme now & then!)

So far I have been able to purchase 1 iPad and have $125 towards the 2nd!

I have a group of highly motivated, ambitious, driven students that are organizing a “Student Vendor & Community Fair” on campus for the purpose of promoting our students with their own businesses as well as the community, and also taking donations for the iPads & for other resources that go directly to the students. (Such as gas cards, I’d love to be able to provide these as incentives for attendance!)
